Time for another update on our latest releases that are a nice blend of fun and relaxation!
The newest on the postcard front are our Sudoku postcard series that went live last week. This series is actually dedicated to some of our favourite people in our lives who are huge Sudoku fans. We are not avid Sudoku players, wordsearch is more our thang. However, it was really fun creating and designing these postcards 🙂
We were inspired by the Japanese Dojo and wanted to compare Sudoku with Japanese martial arts. Both requires focus and determination. If you worked hard at Sudoku or in your training in the specific field of studies, you will definitely improve and move up the ranks!
The Sudoku postcard set contains four levels of difficulty that are named after Japanese hierarchy/seniority ranks. We also translated our inspiration through the watercolour dots. The dots follow the colours of the belts in martial arts and also increase in size as the puzzle gets more challenging.
The easiest level is Sudoku Kohai, which means “Junior”. According to our Sudoku experts, this puzzle would only take them 5-10 minutes to complete!
Next is the medium level called Sudoku Senpai. Senpai means “Senior” in Japanese.
The difficult level is Sudoku Sensei. Sensei means “Teacher” in Japanese and you are totally qualified to teach beginners’ Sudoku. This puzzle should take you about 20 minutes to complete!
Reaching this final level called Sudoku Iemoto means that you are really awesome at Sudoku! This is the most challenging puzzle and it is the expert level. Iemoto are the heads/masters of the Dojo. You probably finished the first two puzzles in a blink of an eye!
The Sudoku postcard set is available for purchase on Etsy and Carousell. Our postcards are printed on heavyweight 100% matte recycled paper. Unlike our previous postcards (wordsearch and #wordsofyouth), we are currently only selling these in sets. Each set contains all 4 levels and a plastic sheet is also included for you to work on the puzzles without direct contact with the postcards. Remember not to use permanent markers 🙂

This original quote was actually inspired by and expanded upon from Mother Theresa’s quote, “Peace begins with a smile”. These are rather frightful times we are living in and some smiles are just not genuine. We believe that peace should begin in the heart and then expressed through smiles and words.

When Jia was really young, there was an album of soothing and relaxing sounds called Tranquility which her mother used to play on repeat nearing bedtime. The album cover was an image of the sea with gentle waves extending far beyond what the eye could see. Since then, she has always associated the colour blue with tranquility.
In this print, layers of blues come together to embrace (and represent) the original quote – “Tranquility is the lush calmness that cocoons a contented mind”. We really do feel at ease and comforted when looking at this art print!
